Alright, so my “origin story” into exercise isn’t anything special. I was a skinny kid growing up, I played sports but was never really great at them because I was skinny and wasn’t very coordinated. My junior year of high school a few friends and I decided we wanted to get “jacked for senior beach week” so we all got our first gym memberships at the YMCA in Charleston, West Virginia where we lived and pretended we knew what we were doing. That was my first experience with structured exercise in a gym, but not where I found the passion to fuel my career..
College is where I found that passion. During my time at Marshall University, I became infatuated by the human body, how it works, and how it can be manipulated and improved through exercise. I loved the idea that exercise is medicine and can be used to cure many diseases on one end of the spectrum, and push the body to its highest limits like many of the athletes you see today on the other end.
That passion only grew when I began training clients back in 2015. Over the past 6 years I’ve had the opportunity to work with a wide range of amazing individuals; from kids, to division 1 college athletes, middle aged moms and dads, all the way to elderly folk up to the age of 80. Each of which comes from different backgrounds, with different goals, and therefore requiring highly individualized training and communication; everyone has a different story and understanding that is what I believe distinguishes the good coaches from the great.
My training has changed a lot through the years, from bodybuilding in the beginning into more performance and functional based training as of late. This has allowed me to enjoy my favorite hobbies at a high level; such as snowboarding, basketball, camping, hiking and boxing. I strive to help my clients do the same and I look forward to doing so for many years to come.
